lavender help?

I know some of you gardeny types read this and I need help. I love lavender and last year I planted 2 larger plants in containers and a small one in the ground. They all dyed. I know one was an English lavender plant and I think the other one was french. Anyway the english one died after about 2 weeks. It just dried up and died. The other one lasted about a month. I know the pots were big enough and drained. Does anyone have any ideas of what happened? I want to grow more lavender this year and I don’t want it to die!ÂÂ
