Someone on Powderroom.net was asking about how many resorts we’d been to. So I made my list…and I’m impressed with myself! That’s a lot of resorts and I shall be adding a few more by the end of the month. I really need to get to Europe soon.

Tahoe Trip

I spent last week in Lake Tahoe with about 20 of my friends. It was sick and I’m still recovering. Insane amounts of alcohol were consumed and we rode the hell out of the slush.

Probably the most fun part evah was the backyard mini-shred. We “borrowed” a couple of picnic tables from a park and found a desk in the garbage to set up a a flat-down to wall ride. I killed that setup (sort-of)! Anyway here’s a photo I took of my friend doing a sick tailpress.

Other highlights included me nailing a a boardslide on a flat-down box, getting nearly 2 ft of pow, and getting extremely hyphy. It was an 8 hour drive each way from SLC, and good god it’s boring!

Great day on the mountain

Saturday was one of the most fun days I’ve had this season. It wasn’t a crazy powder day or anything like that, but it was one of those days that are just simply enjoyable. To start with it was bluebird. For those non-snowboarders that means sunny without a cloud in the sky. It was warm but the air had some bite. There was powder to be found in the trees and some crowds, but for the first time in a long while the day went by in an instant. Sometime, although I’m still enjoying myself, it feels like I’ve been riding for 4 hours when it’s only been one.

We didn’t leave until 3:45 yesterday. I think it’s not supposed to snow much this week so I am committing myself to getting my switch riding down.

I’m going to be in NJ for a few days next week, then up to Vermont ThusorFri-Sun. Then flying back on the 20th.

A couple of weeks ago I was in Las Vegas for the Snowsports trade show. I wanted to get in earlier than my original 10pm flight so I flew standby and connected via Phoenix to get there at 7:30pm. Why? Because Monday was PARTY night! I had a friend pick up tickets for me at the show.

Rick Ross & Pitbull at Sapphire

I checked into my hotel room at the Tropicana (ghetto). However there was a fight or something that week and all the hotel rooms were like 5 times their normal price. My friend was running a little late with dinner so we didn’t get to the Palms until 11pm. Burton was having a party and fashion show at Rain. Well we missed the fashion show which I heard was great with cirque du soleil like dancers. We had to pass back bracelets in order to get to the vip line too. Once we got in, Common was performing and then a DJ. After the live music the party pretty much died, so we left to go to the Boost/oakley/Dingo’s 21st BD party at Sapphire, a strip joint.

We didn’t have bracelets for that party, but we were supposed to. Still it was no problem getting in and Rick Ross was on when we got in. Good lord, the guys there stunk. We wandered into the strip club proper for a bit, as one of the guys I was with wanted to buy his girlfriend a lapdance. However while we looked around, every single bouncer in the place ran to the back. Somebody was getting his ass kicked, and we snuck back into the party. Afterwards we went to the Mandalay to gamble, but since the House of Blues Foundation Room was open for non members that night we went up there.

Did I forget to tell you I met Mr. Right…er..Mr Wright? Jessie negotiated to get all 4 of us up for the cover of 1 person.

It was fun up there, but a weird mix of people. It does have the most amazing view of the strip. Jessie and John wandered off to do something and left Emily and I dancing with some strange guys for a bit. After they were gone 20 minutes we decided to walk around and found the techno room and the hip hop room. Finally we found the guys again. I didn’t end up getting back until after 4am.

The rest of the show went really well for me. I made a lot of great connections.

Tuesday night I had invites for a bunch of parties including Bam’s Bachelor Party at the Hard Rock, but I have an injured foot and after a day spent walking on thinly rugged concrete I could barely walk. So I stayed in my room and ordered room service. Wednesday was super busy but then I had a few hours to kill before i headed to the airport.

I got home around 3am and went to bed for a few hours before getting up aroudn 10am to start packing for my drive to Aspen.

BBC Click likes us, they really like us!

A friend of Lucie, the editor of Powderroom.net, texted her to tell her how good the site looked on the BBC News Click site. Of course Lucie had no idea what she was talking about, but she found this:

Plus she points out what a good community we have on the forum.

I know we rock, but it’s always nice to hear someone else say it. Especially when they do it out in the public eye. Hopefully the show will be available online soon.
